Shima moved to Canada from Holland at the age of 9. She spoke fluent Dutch and only knew how to speak a little English when arriving in Canada. Shima quickly learned English at school and forgot how to speak Dutch.

She recently graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Social Work. She enjoys meeting others and helping others in need.

A few years ago, she hosted four wonderful international students. During that time, she learned about different cultures and the challenges the students experienced. She enjoyed assisting students to navigate life in Canada and learned a lot about their culture.

After graduating High School she travelled a little bit around the world. Some of her favourite places are Spain, New York City, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, and any place she can snorkel.

In Shima’s spare time she enjoys walking her two dogs, jumping on the trampoline with her son, spending time outdoors, cooking healthy recipes and exercising.
